Who Will Write Our History
The film documents the little-known story of a secret group of journalists, scholars, and community leaders in the Warsaw Ghetto who were determined to fight Nazi propaganda by documenting the truth of life at that time from the Jewish perspective. They created and collected detailed written accounts of life in the ghetto—they wrote and commissioned eyewitness accounts of Nazi atrocities, essays, diaries, and more, and collected artifacts like photographs, newspapers, and German pronouncements. They smuggled reports of mass murder to London, and when they were being deported, they buried an estimated sixty thousand pages of documentation, much of which was recovered after the war. The film, written and directed by Roberta Grossman and executive produced by Nancy Spielberg, is based on the book of the same title by Samuel D. Kassow. The film had its global cinema release on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27, 2019, and then, in conjunction with Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day on May 1, 2019, had approximately one hundred encore screenings in more than twenty countries.

Join WIZO for a private screening on February 24, 2020 at the Dolby Screening Room including a prescreening discussion by Dr. Sam Kassow. Appropriate for everyone, teens to centenarians. Buy your tickets below!
